Everything you need to know about using the Website to Markdown Chrome extension.

Getting Started

1. Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store.
2. Pin the extension to your toolbar so it's one click away.
3. Open the page you want to convert.
4. Click the Website to Markdown icon in your toolbar.
5. Pick your options (titles, links, cleanup) and copy the Markdown to your clipboard or download it as a file.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work on every site?

It works on most public web pages. Some sites — especially ones that render content with heavy JavaScript or sit behind a login wall — may produce less clean output. If a page looks off, try toggling the cleanup option.

Does it cost anything?

The extension is free.

Where does my data go?

The extension sends the page you ask it to convert to a small backend service that performs the conversion and returns the Markdown. Nothing is stored or logged with identifying information. See the privacy policy for details.

Can I use it with ChatGPT or Claude?

Yes — that's the main use case. Convert the page, copy the Markdown, and paste it into your AI tool of choice. Markdown gives the model clean structure to work with.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?
